Leagues, Tournaments and more for Big Tyme!

home

Well folks it’sLeagues, Tournaments and more for Big Tyme! been a little while since my last blog. I have been super busy with life and such and have not had much time to think about what I want to say. I decided to give it try today. I hope you all enjoy it!

I would like to start by congratulating one of Big Tyme’s own great pool players, Ernesto Bayaua, for his win at the APA Nationals in Las Vegas. His takes home the championship trophy, among other things, for his win in the purple tier 8 ball tournament. We are so very proud of you Ernesto. You represent the sport with dignity and class.

In January the Houston area experienced some severe weather that actually caused us to close down for one full day and part of another day. Freezing temperatures, ice and snow arrived with a vengeance. Travel was extremely hazardous and the pool world (as well as most everyone else) suffered.

March was a very exciting month for us with a lot of tournaments and pool action going on. March 3rd & 4th we were fortunate enough to host the APA regionals. This is always an exciting 2 day tournament where pool players from several areas compete for their chance to win a trip to Las Vegas to compete in the national tournament. The following weekend, March 10th and 11th was the APA 8 ball and 9 ball scotch doubles tournament. This tournament was also for a trip to Las Vegas. March 17th was our monthly tournament and you can find details of this tournament on our Facebook page and our website bigtymebilliards.com. March 24th was a one-pocket tournament in which 2 spots were given for the Big Tyme Classic.

We had our Big Tyme Classic pool tournament March 29 thru April 1, 2018. Yes, that was Easter weekend. For those of you who don’t know, the Classic tournament this year began with a one-pocket event for the first 2 days. Day 2 started the open nine-ball event and day 3 was the ladies nine-ball event. I will only list the top 4 winners in each event. We are very happy to announce that we had a full field in each event and the tournament was very successful. Thanks to all the pool players, staff, and spectators who participated and helped to keep everything running smoothly.

One-Pocket winners were Alex Pagulayan, Skylar Woodward, Chip Compton and Francisco Bustamante.

Open Nine Ball winners were Dennis Orcollo, Jeremy Jones, Warren Kiamco, and James Aranas.

Ladies Nine Ball winners were Kim Pierce, Ming Ng, Terry Petrosino and Robyn Petrosino.

With all of that, some of you may be thinking that the Big Tyme Classic is the biggest and the best. Well, I suppose in some ways that may be true, however, as every pool room owner knows their bread and butter is their leagues. League players are what keep us going and we appreciate them greatly. Our in-house league players receive free pool on our 7’ tables every day as long as there are tables available. Of course, it’s always fun to have the professional pool players in the house and they are really something to watch if you are passionate about the sport.

Mother’s day is right around the corner. Remember your Mother and do something nice for her.

Until next time! Play pool and have fun.
